Hello my name is Andrew Flusche, and today I want to discuss what a DMV medical evaluation is. This is a process where DMV basically sends the driver paperwork for you to take to your doctors and have your doctors fill out forms to say whether or not you’re safe to drive. They also fill out forms to describe your conditions and whatnot. That all goes to DMV, and DMV’s doctors review it to determine if you’re safe to drive or be on the roads still.

DMV can do all sorts of different things based on that information. They can just suspend your license completely. They can also impose restrictions on your license such as no nighttime driving. And they can also have you do something like a driver rehabilitation class or training where you do some instruction with an instructor to learn better how to drive given your current medical or health situation. The key thing to remember is that if you get ordered to do a DMV medical evaluation you need to comply with all the directions or else you’ll be suspended anyway.

So the only real chance you have of staying on the road and keeping to drive is if you comply with everything and if DMV gives you the green light to continue driving. If you don’t do it, you definitely will get suspended. So if you have a DMV medical review follow the directions carefully, and definitely cooperate with DMV and do the best you can. And hopefully you’ll be able to still drive if it’s safe to do so.
