Should you prepay a Virginia reckless driving ticket? Let’s talk about that.

Hi, I’m Andrew Flusche. I’m your Virginia reckless driving defense lawyer. You would be amazed at how many people contact my office every month, sometimes every day of a week, when they have an old reckless driving case. Now, it’s causing problems today, with something relating to their job, their insurance, and they’re trying to see if there’s a way to get it off their record. Unfortunately, people have all sorts of different reasons why they were found guilty of reckless driving. Some people, it’s because they were told they could just send in a check, and that’s what they did.

If the situation you’re in now is that you’re facing a reckless driving ticket, and you’re trying to figure out what to do, and if one of the options is to prepay the ticket, stop. Please don’t just prepay a reckless driving ticket without first talking with me. Without first at least talking with another local traffic defense attorney to see what may be possible in your case.

In some cases, it may seem like the easy way out, to just send a check the clerks, if they’re telling you, “Oh, you can send in a check for $250, and you won’t get any points, and you’re finished.” That seems like an easy solution. However, clerks can not give legal advice. While they may be well-intentioned, they probably don’t know the overall situation with your driver’s license and records to know if you’re going to get points or not. While Virginia’s not going to give you points if you’re from out of state, your home state may very well be giving you points. Also, you need to think about the actual impact of a reckless driving conviction itself. Will that conviction cause problems today, with your current employment or insurance, or could it be problems down the road for you?

If you’re facing reckless driving right now, you need to contact me or request my free book, so you can learn more about reckless driving defenses, learn more about what your situation with the law really means, and then make an educated, informed decision about whether or not you want to hire an attorney, or whether or not if sending in a check is an option for you. That’s not an option in most courts in Virginia, but in a few courts they do have a system where they allow you to prepay it.

If that is a situation that you find yourself in, please contact me or request my free book to learn more today.
