Can I Drive a Work Vehicle Without Ignition Interlock on it?

If you’re found guilty of DUI in Virginia, to get a restricted license you have to have ignition interlock installed on your vehicle. That is now state law. But one of the issues that comes up sometimes is if you have to drive for work, would you have to get the ignition interlock installed on the work vehicle?

This is definitely something that you need to talk with me about. When you call me for your free DWI consultation we can go over the possibilities of being able to drive a work vehicle without ignition interlock.

The ignition interlock statute does provide an exemption under these circumstances; however, it’s something that we will specifically need to request from the court. We may need documentation to support the request to the judge. Furthermore, there are rigorous limitations on the driving that you can do in the work vehicle that does not have interlock on it.

Call today so we can go over whether or not you can drive a work vehicle without ignition interlock after you’ve been found guilty of being DUI. And more importantly, we can talk about whether or not you have defenses to possibly beat your charge completely.
