Do NOT Return to the Scene of the Crime

You’ve probably seen the police on TV shows waiting at the scene of the crime to see if the suspect returns.

It happened in real life recently in Stafford.

An example is a shoplifting suspect allegedly stole over $500 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Stafford. She left the items after being pursued by Loss Prevention. She then flagged down a ride out on the road.

At that point, she might have been in the clear from prosecution, if they couldn’t identify her.

But she made a big mistake by returning to the scene of the crime about an hour later. She came to pick up her car, and that’s when a Stafford County Sheriff’s Deputy nabbed her.

Of course, it’s best to not break the law. But if you do, remember not to incriminate yourself. In many cases, the Commonwealth makes their case with evidence that you give to them.
