Do you charge for the initial consultation?
No. Your first phone consultation with us is free, for cases in our practice areas. We’ll review the facts, tell you honestly what we think we can achieve in court, and give you a flat rate for moving forward together. There’s no pressure and no charge just to talk.
Flat rate
We handle all my cases on a flat rate. This makes billing and fees incredibly easy. You know exactly what our services will cost after our initial consultation.
The specific rate for your case will depend upon a variety of factors such as the charge you’re facing and the court it’s in. Due to the varied nature of charges, we cannot list rates online. However, we guarantee that we will set a rate for your case during our first consultation.
What affects my rate?
A few things determine what we charge: the specific charge you’re facing, which court your case is in, and how complicated the facts are. A first offense traffic ticket costs less to defend than a serious misdemeanor that will likely require several court appearances and a trial. That’s why we can’t post a single price list online, but we’ll give you an exact, guaranteed rate once we’ve talked through your case.
Will my rate change once we start working on my case?
No. We quote a flat rate, not an hourly rate, so the number we give you after your consultation is the number you’ll pay. You won’t get a surprise bill for extra phone calls, emails, or time in court. That’s the whole point of billing flat rate: you know your cost upfront and can plan around it.
What if I can’t afford your flat rate right away?
Tell us. We accept cash, personal checks, and all major credit cards, and we can often set up a payment plan so the cost is easier to manage. We’d rather work with you on a plan than have cost be the reason you go without top notch representation.
Beware of the cheapest lawyer
Be sure you don’t make the mistake of simply looking for the cheapest lawyer for your case:
Success rates
You may notice that we don’t have my “success rate” listed on the website. Why is that? Because we think it misleads consumers. We could manipulate a percentage to make it look like your case has a 100% chance of being dismissed. But that doesn’t help you actually select the best lawyer for your needs. When we talk about your case, we’ll give you our honest assessment of the possible outcomes. That’s much more useful than a percentage on a website.
Multiple payment methods
We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
Do you offer payment plans?
We know legal fees can be stressful on top of everything else you’re dealing with. That’s why we’re flexible about how you pay. Depending on your case, we can often work out a payment plan so you’re not stuck with one big expense right away. Talk with us during your free consultation and we’ll figure out what makes sense for your situation.
Do you accept legal insurance or reimbursement plans?
If you or a family member have benefits through Hyatt Legal or National Motor Club, you may be able to get reimbursed for our fees after you hire us. We’ll help you handle the paperwork for that process. We’re not affiliated with either organization, but we’re happy to work with the coverage you already have.
