In some of the courts where I regularly defend DWI clients, the clerk’s office requires an employer verification letter in order to issue a restricted driver’s license.
In general, a work verification letter needs to be on letterhead and contain:
- Your employer’s name
- The physical address where you work
- Your schedule
- How long it takes you to drive to & from work
- If you need to drive during work hours
This is definitely an area where it pays to have a local attorney, since restricted license procedures vary widely around the state.
